Privacy
The short version: this website collects nothing, and the Homestead app keeps your household's data on your own server.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts, and no remote fonts. Everything is served from homestead.ink.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your browser's local storage, under the key
starlight-theme, and never leaves your device. - Search runs in your browser (Pagefind). Your search terms aren't sent anywhere.
- The bug report form sends nothing. It builds a link to GitHub, and you decide whether to submit there. GitHub's own privacy policy applies on GitHub.
- Our host, Cloudflare Pages, processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.
The Homestead app
Homestead is self-hosted. The project runs no service that receives your data. From the app's security and privacy design:
- What's stored, on your server: names and notes your household writes, public profile links, the moments fetched (text, plus media copies if media caching is on), and each member's seen and visit history.
- Retention: stories 7 days and posts 60 days by default (Settings, then Sources). Seen and visit history 180 days.
- No telemetry. No analytics, third-party scripts or remote fonts in the app either.
- No platform passwords or cookies. Logins to Instagram and other platforms stay in your own agent's browser.
- AI is off until the household owner adds an OpenRouter key. Routing then excludes providers that collect data.
- Export and delete:
homestead backupexports everything. Deleting a person removes their accounts, moments and media after a 30-day undo window.
The people you follow never agreed to be in anyone's Homestead. The app is designed to respect that: it doesn't re-share their content, and share links carry only public profile links. Please use it kindly.
